RVIQ Report Card: Analytics Aimed At Educating

What is a RVIQ Report Card?

The RealValueIQ Report Card will be a recurring blog title and format that we will use often.  When you see RVIQ Report Card in the title of one of our blogs, we invite you to be nosy and check out our grades! Expect two things from a RVIQ Report Card titled blog post:

1) The content of the report will always be transparent, analytical, and objective, and

2) All statistics provided come directly from county appraisal data and tax records, as well as our RVIQ databases.  We make every effort to ensure these statistics are as accurate as possible, however, any mistakes in county appraisal data and tax records are beyond our control.

Why are RVIQ Report Cards Important to You, the Taxpayer?

RealValueIQ Report Cards are important because this data deserves to be put on public display for taxpayer analysis and consumption.  It is not a stretch to argue that this data is the only thing that actually holds the property tax system, including the appraisal district, accountable.  If these records did not exist, there would be no way to check the system as a whole.

Yes, it is law that appraisal districts provide tax data and information to the public, but how they provide this information to the public is not legally defined.  The State has left the format and manner in which they choose to provide this data up to the County.  The data is so voluminous in these larger counties that most counties do not provide access to the data in a format that the average Joe Taxpayer would be able to open from his laptop.  And forget opening the data if you do not know what you are looking for in the first place.

Therefore, the purpose of these RVIQ Report Card Blogs are to give Texas property owners (1) access and (2) understanding regarding the relevant information contained within their county tax records.  This access and information should allow them to make more informed decisions on their property taxes in future years.

What analytics do RVIQ customers find the most useful?

The RVIQ Report Card provides analytics that tell RVIQ readers and customers everything they ever wanted to know including, how many people protested, what was the average increase in property tax liability, for the county, for a zip code, for a neighborhood?  How many taxpayers lowered their property taxes?  How many taxpayers used a professional to file their property tax protest?  What was the average reduction received by Professional A?  What about Professional B?  And C?

At the end of the day, all of these statistics and numbers will be analyzed by our team of experts and disseminated in a way that RVIQ readers will be able to decipher on their own what it all means for them.  A taxpayer in one of the RVIQ counties will be able to evaluate whether or not they are making the right decisions when it comes to their property tax liability by reading the report cards for their county and the state.  We promise!
